Fine French Impressionist Oil Painting

A fine French oil on canvas landscape scene in the Impressionist manner. The painting shows a view of a river with men unloading hay from a barge by the walls of an estate. There is a beautiful use of technique and colour here and I particularly like how the reflections are shown in the water. The painting is signed to the lower left but sadly the signature is illegible, though there is no doubt it would be a well recorded French artist. The painting has been professionally cleaned and wax lined to secure it and is in excellent condition. The work is mounted in a much earlier gilt frame which is in excellent untouched condition with all original gilding. The whole has a great decorative impact and is read to hang. C.1900.
