Description

An atmospheric late 19th-century landscape depicting a Scottish loch with an island castle. A beautiful sunset is gently illuminating a distant mountain range as the loch shimmers with the last of the evening’s light.

The work is unsigned but the style bears all the hallmarks of a provincial British artist.

Medium: Oil on canvas

Size including frame: 16” x 12” / 40.5cm x 30.5cm

Year of creation: c. 1882 - c. 1900

Condition: A few areas of paint loss and craquelure throughout. Frame with various chips and losses but it’s sturdy and ready to hang.
