Victorian Still Life Oil Painting of Flowers

A fine oil on board still life of a bouquet of Summer flowers. A beautiful arrangement of many different types of flowers and strikingly painted onto a black background. The work is signed somewhat illegibly and dated 1888. The painting is in excellent condition having been professionally cleaned, it does however have some rippling of the board which can catch the light and which I have tried to show in the photographs. The work is mounted in a beautiful period gilt frame with original gilding and does have some minor repair. The whole makes a striking artwork with great decorative impact.
