Description

A gorgeous 19th century landscape that very much resembles the work of the important Barbizon artist Paul Déziré Trouillebert. The painting is however signed P...l Robert, and I believe it may be a work by the equally great Swiss artist Paul Robert (1851-1923), who happened to be working in Paris in 1875.

It is a wonderful work in the great realist French landscape tradition, bearing its trademarks of tonal qualities and softness of form. An oil on canvas measuring 22 x 22cm, it is presented in a modern frame. Two small puncture holes have been professionally restored, preserving the original canvas and stretcher. The overall framed size is 31 x 36 cm.
