Two delightful Victorian oil paintings by much regarded artist Samuel Barnes (1847-1901).

Samuel John Barnes was a British landscape painter. He was born in Birmingham where he studied at the Birmingham School of Art and later in London.

His best paintings were of Scottish highland landscapes including highland cattle. There are four examples of his work in the Royal Collection, bring acquired by Queen Victoria. He exhibited at the Royal Academy in 1884 and 1886. These original oil on boards are likely to date from circa 1880-90.

Each 10 x 14 cm, not including frames.
