Watercolour of Lake Como, Italy, by Ebenezer Wake Cook

A fine watercolour depicting Lake Como in Italy by highly regarded artist Ebenezer Wake Cook (1843-1926). The work is in excellent condition with the colours bright and fresh, the detail is amazing, the bank of summer flowers just stunning. The work is signed to the lower right for ‘E Wake Cook’ and dated 1890. Ebenezer Wake Cook was a highly regarded watercolourist with a stunning detail to his works, he studied under Chevalier and lived in London. He exhibited widely and profusely, including a staggering 372 works at the Fine Art Society and 32 times at the Royal Academy. The painting retains the original gilt slip and frame but the mount has been replaced. The frame is in great worn country house condition. This is a fine work by a great artist and a desirable subject.
