Description

A sincere portrait of Eduard Alge, a teacher and mayor, that lived in Lustenau, Austria. The artist, Flores Scheel, has created a wonderful lasting image of this proud gentleman in his Sunday best.

I managed to track down a little information from Eduard's family archives and discovered that he came from a large family of nine and was married to Cäcilie. His father, 'Josef' Matthias Alge, was also a teacher and clearly inspired him to pursue the same career.

A note attached to the back of the painting explains that Flores created this portrait for Cäcilie after he passed away in 1931.

Please just ask if you would like this painting to be framed and we will try to source something appropriate for its age. We only charge for the cost of the actual frame (approximately £50) and include the framing process for free.

Medium: Oil on canvas

Size: 22” x 17?” / 56cm x 44cm

Year of creation: c. 1933

Condition: A few minor losses.
