'The Artist's Garden' Oil Painting by E.h.thomas

A charming oil on artist board by Edgar Herbert Thomas 1862-1936. The painting is a beautiful scene looking through a doorway into a garden on a bright summer's day with in the distance an easel prepared for painting. The work has a lovely light, wistful feel to it and does evoke the French impressionists in the portrayal of light. The artist was born in Wales and exhibited at the Royal Society of painters in oils, as well as working as an illustrator. The painting is signed and inscribed on the reverse and dated 1917. The painting has been professionally cleaned and is framed in a Victorian period gilt frame. The whole is in great ready to hang condition and has a wonderful decorative appeal.
