This attractive painting, still within its original frame, depicts a fisherman on the River Wharfe (which marks most of the boundary between West and North Yorkshire), with Bolton Abbey behind and mountains in the distance.

Copley Fielding (1787-1855) was a marine and landscape painting who exhibited 17 paintings, all oils, at the Royal Academy from 1811 - 1842. He was one of the most fashionable painters of his day, and won a medal at the Paris Salon, although he never travelled abroad himself.
