The Woodsman And His Dog After Thomas Barker Of Bath

Status: This item has been sold
Sold by: Prometheus Antiques

A charming oil on canvas painting of ‘The huntmans and his dog’ after Thomas Barker of Bath c.1790. The painting is a copy of the famous Georgian work and was most likely painted in the early nineteenth century. It closely follows the original but has a slight naivety about it that is very charming. The painting as is most often the case with this sort of work is not signed. The work is mounted in the original gilt frame which has a great faded worn look and is completely untouched with the original gilding. The painting has been professionally cleaned and a small hole repaired. The whole has a great antique look and is ready to hang. C.1830.
