Oil Painting Of St. Clement's Church, Skegness By F.P.Kirk

Status: This item has been sold
Sold by: Prometheus Antiques

An interesting oil on artists''s board of a scene looking across a field to Saint Clement''s Church, Skegness. The painting has a great deal of technical ability and the artist has captured wonderfully the feeling of peace and calm of a summer''s day at the church. The painting is signed to the lower left ''Frank Kirk'' who was a Nottingham artist who is recorded as exhibiting at the Nottingham Society of Artists between 1896-1937. The painting has been professionally cleaned and has a lovely inscription on the reverse locating the scene as Skegness on the Lincolnshire coast and dating it to 1908. The work retains the original gilt frame though it has be re-gilt at some point. The whole is a lovely little work evocative of an English Summers day.
