Pair of Early Folk Art Oil Paintings

A wonderful pair of early folk art oil paintings. The paintings have an enormous amount of naive charm with primitive figures and naive perspective contrasting with a huge amount of detail. The pair of works show different views one a view of a ruined tower with figures and the other a large view of a boating lake. It is very unusual to get a pair of naive works in such good condition and of such charm. The paintings have been professionally cleaned and a small hole in one repaired. The two have been framed in Victorian gilt frames. The pair are by the same artist as a painting of Boston, Lincolnshire that we have for sale and as these artists tended to be local craftsman it is likely that these two represent scenes local to that area as well. C.1870.
