A lovely example of Victorian still life fruit painting in oil on canvas. The picture shows fruit on a grassy bank with a small fly in the front. The painting is mounted in a period gilt frame which has been later re-gilt. The work is signed J.W.Dayson an unrecorded artist who may well have been a porcelain painter, but there is a lovely dedication from him on the reverse offering the painting as a gift in 1900. The whole in good condition the painting has had some minor professional restoration and a stabilising wax lining.
