Description

Jean Keuleyan Lafon (1886 - 1973) was born in Paris into a dynasty of painters. He was the son of the artist Jacques-Emile Lafon and grandson of the artist François Lafon. He exhibited at the Salon de Paris in 1875 and was a member of the Société National de Beaux Arts from 1890.

Jean Keuleyan Lafon became particularly well known for the manner in which he handled the reflection of sun and moonlight on water in this paintings. The artwork presented here is a perfect example of this. It shows a peaceful bay in the South of France, most likely at Antibes or Juan les Pins.

Painted in oil on wooded panel and dating from the 1930s or 1940s, it is signed at the lower left. The painting measures 22 x 27 cm. Overall dimensions with its simple period frame are 32,5 x 37,5 cm
