Description

A fine, beautifully executed watercolour on paper by French artist Felix Murnot. It depicts riders in a paddock, quite likely on at the racecourse at Deauville in Normandy. The artwork measures 13 x 39 cm under the mat, the overall size including the rame being 38 x 64 cm

Felix Murnot (1924-?) is known for his beach scenes in the tradition of Boudin, and for his horse racing scenes. Works by the artist have sold at major auction houses such as at Christies' in London. The watercolour presented here was acquired of the previous owner at the Galerie de la Lieutenance in Honfleur in the 1950s.
