Man by Fire Oil Painting by J.d.kenworthy

A fine oil sketch on an old man warming himself by the fire, by John Dalzell Kenworthy 1858-1954. The painting is wonderful loose and captures effortlessly the old man enjoying a warm by the fire, there is beautiful detail in the light given off by the fire. The work is initialled on the front and dated 1907, on the reverse is the information for the artist and the sitter. John Dalzell Kenworthy is a highly regarded Cumbrian artist specialising in rustic subjects and portraits. He exhibited extensively particularly at the Royal Cambrian Academy but also at the Royal Academy. The painting has been professionally cleaned and is framed in a period gilt frame, this has had some slight repair. The whole is ready to hang.
