The work is initialled on the front and dated 1907, on the reverse is the information for the artist and the sitter. John Dalzell Kenworthy is a highly regarded Cumbrian artist specialising in rustic subjects and portraits. He exhibited extensively particularly at the Royal Cambrian Academy but also at the Royal Academy. The painting has been professionally cleaned and is framed in a period gilt frame, this has had some slight repair. The whole is ready to hang.
