Description

A gorgeous, summery oil by Montmartre born artist Maurice Feuillet (1873 - 1968)

Feuillet moved in the artistic and litterary circles of the area from a very young age. A multi-talented man, he was a painter, draughtsman and illustrator for the press, but also as a journalist and an expert of 18th century drawings.

Feuillet's own drawings were published in influential magazines such as the sartirical "Assiette au Beurre". He later came to edit the Figaro Artistique and the Gaullois Artistic. His well known, and collectable posters are "Mme Morelli, queen of jaguars" and "Billards St Martin".

Our painting by Maurice Feuillet is signed and dated 1952 lower left, It is an oil on paper mounted on board, and depicts a sailor repainting (or oiling) his boat on a sunny beach . It would make a lovely gift to anyone with a hand-on interest in boats! The size is 46 x 55 cm, and with a simple vintage gilded frame, 51 x 60 cm.
