A well executed, interesting and atmospheric marine oil painting by a listed artist.
He was born in Liverpool in 1829 according to the Parish Register of St Nicholas Church in Liverpool, his father, John Callow was also a painter as was his uncle William Callow and at least one of his brothers.
George Callow active 1858-1873, exhibited twice at the Royal Academy in 1863 he showed the painting "Morning on the River Teign" and in 1864 "Coastal Scene, Isle of Wight". He appears to have specialised in landscapes and maritime painting. He died in 1875.
In excellent condition throughout.
