A charming and typically Venetian scene oil painting by Edward H. Bearne (exh 1880-1901). The painting shows a view of a Venetian canal with a gondola pointing out of the painting moored next to a bridge with a beautiful balcony above. The painting is painted in oils on card a medium that is quite unusual for the artist who specialised in watercolour. Bearne exhibited widely including ten times at the Royal Academy. The painting is signed on the reverse. The work is mounted in a period gilt frame with art nouveau details. The whole is in excellent ready to hang condition.
