Detthow appreciated the work of Paul Cézanne, and our painting testiifies to this. It dates from the mid 1920s - arguably Detthows best period, as a young and mature artist. It was in 1924 that Detthow was selected to be shown at the Salon des Arts Décoratifs.
Detthow studied 1912-1913 at the Royal Academy in Stockholm and 1914-1915 in Paris. He returned to Paris in 1919 and settled there.
. He was elected in 1920 as a member of the Salon d'automne in Paris and participated in their annual exhibitions, where he was also a jury member. He participated in the Salon des Tuileries from its inception in 1923, as well as st the "Salon des temps présent" . His work has been shown in exhibitions of French art in most European capitals. He is represented in the National Museum, Vänersborg Museum and Kalmar Art Museum.

Measuring 38 x 46 cm without its frame, our painting is painted on panel and signed at the lower left.
