A Superb Edwardian period miniature portrait by Alice James. The miniature shows a young boy dressed for bed with a chamberstick in his hand. The boy is named on the reverse as Tristram James, presumably the son of the artist. There are several possible Alice James that the artist maybe but it does indicate on the reverse that she was an associate member of the Royal Watercolour Society and that this painting was exhibited at the Society of Miniature painters in 1912 and was a replica of one painted for the Royal Academy exhibition in 1888. The painting is in excellent condition and has been later reframed in a gilt frame.
