A fine example of the prize cattle prints produced in the late Georgian and early Victorian periods, this being ''The unrivalled Lincolnshire heifer''. The print shows the cow in all it''s splendour, front and centre, in typical landscape setting. The print has an extensive title below:
''THE UNRIVALLED LINCOLNSHIRE HEIFER
fed by THOMAS WILLOUGHBY of ORBY, near BURGH and now his property.
to General MANNERS MP this plate is respectfully inscribed by his obliged obedient servant Thos Willoughby''
''painted by Thos Weaver. Engraved by Wm Ward engraver to their R.H. the Prince Regent and the Duke of York.''
''Published June 12 1813 by Thos Willoughby, Orby nr Burgh Lincolnshire''
The print is mounted in the original superb quality flame mahogany frame which has a great untouched colour and patina. The print does have some condition issues a few small tears at the bottom and a mark in the sky but the colours are in good condition as is the majority of the print.
