A charming and decorative oil on canvas still life painting dating to the late Victorian period. The painting shows a typical still life composition of flowers in a vase. The vase is full of tulips of various colours with some dropping petals onto the table. The work is very competently done and the whole is bright and fresh. The painting is signed ''Thomson'' but not dated, there were various Thomsons working in this period most of whom were Scottish. The painting is mounted in the original gilt frame which is in good condition, having had some slight repair and obviously has the odd mark as is appropriate to the age. The whole is in excellent condition, with the painting having been professionally cleaned and a tiny hole repaired. C.1900.
