A Parisian "School of Paris" artist often called "the painter of the human comedy", Dauchot admired Maurice Utrillo and Chaim Soutine. He studied with Yves Brayer and Othon-Friez and received enormous acclaim, being hailed as one of the most important artists of his generation. Dauchot exhibited at the presigious Galleries Durand-Ruel and Katia Granoff in Paris. Former French president and avid art collector Jacques Chirac Dauchot's work in a speech .
Our Harlequin is a very fine little gem measuring 18 x 14 cm(canvas alone). In a lovely precious period frame, the overall size is 26 x 22 cm. It is signed at the lower left.
