Beautiful drawing in sanguine/red chalk by sculptor Raymond Veysset (1913 - 1967)

The drawing measures 29 x 48 cm, total size including frame: 33 x 55 cm.

Veysset studied at the Ecole des Beaux Art in Paris and was then taught by Derain, Wlerinck and Malfray. At first a figurative sculptor of human expression, he became to hold a significant place in French

Abstract sculpture in the 1950s and 1960. He exhibited at the Salon de Mai and the Salon des Réalités Nouvelles. His drawings were exhibited in the exhbition "Dessins de Sculpteurs de Rodin à nos jours"

(Drawings by Sculptors from Rodin to the Present Day) at the Museum of Strasbourg.
