Victorian Oil Portrait of a Lady in Georgian Dress

A fine oil on canvas portrait of a lady in Georgian period dress. The portrait is most likely as Victorian copy after an eighteenth century portrait by the likes of Gainsborough etc. The Victorian period saw a great output of paintings taken from earlier works of art as the newly wealthy wanted to acquire copys to hang at home. I have been unable to identify the lady in this work but it is a nice quality work with a great decorative appeal, it is well painted and in good condition. The painting is mounted in a superb quality Victorian period gilt frame in excellent original condition. The whole has a great decorative impact and would look perfect in a Georgian interior. C.1870.
