Victorian Gothic Oil on Canvas Head of the Infant Christ

Description

This is an oil painting on canvas in the Italian Gothic Quattrocenco style depicting the head of the infant Christ. The painting is contained in its original gilt and gesso frame decorated at four corners with a fleur de lys design and quatrefoil corners. The painting is in very good order and dates from around 1870.

Provenance: This was painted bt Laetitia Featherstone (later Mrs Edward Little) as a wedding present to Jane Margaret Milner of Startforth Hall. (Mrs Haslewood)

The frame measures 56 cms by 60 cms to the extremities.
