A wonderful Southern french summer scene by André Salomon le Tropézien (active ca 1900-1930)

This antique oil on canvas painting measures 46 x 55 cm (measured without the frame). The overall framed size with a simple oak frame is ca 54 x 61 cm.

Little is known about the life André Salomon, who painted in the typical Southern French style, with a palette knife rather than with a brush. Possibly a self-taught artist, he painted in ....Saint Tropez, probably selling his summer landscapes to wealthy visitors to the Cote d'Azur.
