Carl Kricheldorf was born in Celle in Germany in 1863, and became a very successful artist there.
While living in England he exhibited at The Royal Academy, London (1892-1900) and at The Royal Society of British Artists (Suffolk Street). During this period living in England, he painted this very detailed interior scene which is close to where he lived.
He returned to Germany after 1900. He died in Munich in 1934.
