Oil on panel, signed lower right. the size of the painting is 27 x 33 cm, measured without its simple gilded frame.

Dieterle was a student of Corot, as well as his friend and confidante. Indeed, he was the official expert for Corot's work.

Dieterle himself exhibited widely, and paintings by the artist figure several French museums such as Rouen and Clamecy.
