Glorious Summer Meadow, 1895, by Edmond, Alphonse Defonte (1862-1948)

Oil on canvas, signed and dated lower left.

The painting is in excellent condition, was relined and put on to a new stretcher in the mid 20th century.

The size of the painting without its frame is 38 x 55 cm. The natural wooden/stripped pine frame dates is more recent and adds about 7 cmto each side.

A student of Joseph Blanc, Diogène Maillard and Emile Renard, Edmond

Defonte became a member of the Society of French Artists in 1889.
