Antique French Moroccan Orientalist Art Deco Period Painting by Robert Camille Quesnel (1881-1962)

Description

Fantastic orientalist oil on panel by Robert Camille Quesnel, a student of Bejamin-Constant, and an artist whose work has featured in Sotheby's and Christies auctions. The artist was active in Morocco, where this work was painted.

It dates from the 1930s and was painted on reclaimed material - a panel from a crate which bears stenciling from "The Wabash Cabinet Company, Indiana" and John H Faunce Inc, New York City/ It would be fascinating to know where Quesnel found it!

The nature of the material used means that the panel has small nail holes along the top and bottom edges, which are simply part of the painting.

The panel is signed on the lower left and measures 45 x 58 cm . The overall size with its original frame is 55 x 66 cm
