Portrait Viscountess Sydney Ca 1830 Very Fine Antique Watercolour

Description

A delightful and very fine, superbly executed portait of a young lady dressed in white, holding a posey. Watercolour heightened with white, the work is unsigned and anonymous, but bears the inscription "Viscountess Sydney" on the mat.

Given that this work was acquired together with a portait of Thomas Townshend 1rst Viscount Sydney, I believe the siiter is most likely correctly indentified. In this case, that subject is probably Lady Emily Caroline Paget, Countess Sydney,born in 1810.

The painting dates to around 1830 as can clearly be gathered from the style and dress.

The paperon which the watercolour is painted measures 15 x 13 cm, and is presented in abeautiful burr wood frame.

Framed, the overall measurements are 35 x 32 cm.
