Pair of Regency Engravings Putti Cipriani

Description

This is a fine pair of handcoloured engravings by Giovanni Battista Cipriani which date from around 1800. The engravings are beautifully executed with strong and vibrant colours. They were engraved by J. Godby (active 1790 to 1815) after the works by Cipriani (1727 to 1785) . The engravings, which show classical scenes with Putti holding flaming torches aloft, are set within quality deep marbled mount boards with gilded edges in gilt frames. These are in excellent condition and measure 43 cms by 37 cms including the frame.
