Oil Painting of Thackstead Mill by Bertram Priestman

Oil painting on artist's board by highly regarded artist Bertram Priestman (1868-1951). A fine oil in typical English impressionist manner the work shows a view of Thackstead Mill in Essex. The work is quite loose and may well be an oil sketch. The painting is signed though it is difficult to read but is also inscribed on the reverse and dated August 1900. Bertram Priestman was one of the most highly regarded painters of his age he exhibited widely and was a full member of the Royal Academy. The painting is mounted in the original oak frame with gilt slip. The whole is in excellent condition and ready to hang and has a great arts and crafts look.
