Landscape Oil Painting with Children by Nancy Huntly

A charming oil on canvas painting by Nancy Weir Huntly. The painting is quintessentially indicative of it's time, showing children playing in the street outside their home on a Summers day. The painting is very modern in it's technique with bold use of the brush and bright colours. The painting is by Nancy Weir Huntly whose married name was Shepherd. Nancy Huntly trained extensively in Edinburgh, the Kunstgewerbe Schule in Dusseldorf and the Royal Academy school in London, she exhibited widely between 1913-37, living in London and Welwyn Garden City, probably where this was painted. She had seven works hung in Royal Academy exhibitions. The painting has been cleaned and a tiny hole repaired professionally. The work is mounted in a Victorian period gilt frame which compliments it very well. The whole is in excellent condition and really reflects the time and the feeling of the thirties and an English Summer. C.1930.
