Chinese Watercolour Painting on Pith 19th Century

Description

This is delightful and exquisitely painted Chinese watercolour dating from the mid 19th century. The painting is in the most beautiful gouache colours and shows a young dignitary, seated with a female attendant at his side, and a large panel screen with peacocks behind him. It is neatly mounted in a plain oak frame which suits it well. There are a couple of minor breaks to the pith, as is so often the case with these due to ageing. The painting has incredible detail and great depth of colour and is a really good example dating from around 1850.

This measures 28 cms by 20 cms.

Rams Head Antiques is a family business based in Wolsingham in Weardale where we have had shop premises for 28 years. The shop is generally open every Saturday from 11 am till 3 pm.
