Fox Hunting Scene Oil on Panel Thomas Henry Alken

Description

This is a good 19th century oil painting on oak panel with a dramatic scene of the huntsman in full flight arriving at the scene of the kill. The painting has vibrant and deep, rich colours and is framed in a tasteful plain gilt frame. The oak panel has had a couple of reinforcement latts attached to the back at some time. The painting dates from around 1830 and whilst unsigned is very much in the manner of Thomas Henry Alken who famously painted many sporting scenes around this time.

This measures 69 cms by 60 cms overall including the frame.
