ARTHUR BLACKBURN: a fine and large OIL PAINTING on CANVAS depicting an interesting and impressive North Country coastal scene.

With choppy waves lapping the shore and scudding clouds overhead, a young mother and her daughter wave goodbye to a friend (elder sister?) about to depart on a waiting ferry. Behind, rocky cliffs and distant mountains can be seen. Signed to the lower left corner; beautifully painted and well framed. 36ins high; 57ins wide (91 x 145 cms).

***Arthur Blackburn, a landscape painter based in Leeds, was born in 1853. He exhibited at the Royal Academy in 1890/1891 and died in 1925 aged 72.
