Pair of French Landscape Oil Paintings

A beautiful pair of French landscape oils painted on artist's board. The paintings show two landscapes both at dusk but one painted in the summer and one in the winter. The two paintings have a lovely soft atmosphere, with the artist having infused the whole works with a feel for the light at that time of day. The landscapes differ in composition to accentuate the seasonal feel with the winter scene quite still and devoid of people and the summer scene with the figure and town to show the life that season evokes. The paintings are both signed A.Garnier. The paintings have been professionally cleaned. The paintings are mounted in period oak frames with modern slips. the pair are in excellent ready to hang condition. C.1900.
