Pair of Fine Oil Paintings of Dogs and Deer

A very interesting and quite early pair of sporting oils of gundogs and deer. The oil on canvas works show two scenes with a traditional hunting theme, one has a group of Fallow deer drinking in a stream and the other has two gundogs in a landscape setting. The paintings are both well done with exquisite detail and beautiful landscape settings. The paintings are not signed this is often the case with earlier works. The painting have been professionally cleaned and a small holes repaired. The paintings are mounted in the original gilt frames which are large and deep and give the works a dramatic impact. The frames have been later regilt and had some minor repairs. The paintings and frames are continental, and there is a bit of a quirk in that the frames have warped a little giving a not quite square profile, though this is not that noticeable and actually quite charming. The paintings are beautifully detailed and have a great early look and date too. C.1800.
