Still Life Oil Painting of Bottles

A fine quality oil on canvas still life painting. The painting has a very interesting arrangement of items, with various bottles, a glass of wine, fruit and a scallop shell covered in what looks like berries or fish eggs of a bright red colour. The painting is typical of a good art school painting with the various objects used to test the skill of the artist. The work is only signed 'Thomas' the general nature of the name means identifying the artist has been impossible. The painting has been mounted in a good quality Victorian period gilt frame which is in good original condition. The painting has been professionally cleaned and the whole has a great stylish and decorative look. C.1940.
