Description

This is a very charming hand coloured print which dates from the early 19th century. It depicts a man mounted upon an elephant in a clash with a tiger, his spear plunging down toward the tiger. The print is quite simplistic and stylised in its representation of the scene. It was collected in India by the Hon. Charlotte Fraser and hung in the home of her and her husband the Hon. Andrew Fraser along with others. (See framers label verso). The print is in a beautiful velvet covered frame and it measures 34 cms by 28 cms including the frame.
