The painting in oils on canvas is typical of Victorian landscape painting with figures to the fore and a village in the distance. I particularly like the wild cloudy sky and the whole is very well painted. The painting has been professionally cleaned and is in excelllent condition. The work is signed faintly on the lower left but it is illegible, it is also inscribed on the reverse but also sadly illegible. The painting is mounted in a period gilt frame and the whole is in excellent condition and ready to hang. C.1890.
