Superb Large Pair of Late Georgian Oil Portraits

A superb pair of late Georgian or Regency period oil portraits of husband and wife. The pair show a couple of some wealth but sadly they are not identified. The lady is dressed in fine silks and in a landscape setting typical of the period. The gentleman is dressed in typical Regency dress with high collar. The pair are of a high standard in technique and must have been painted by a highly regarded artist, sadly they are not signed but the canvas by Rowney and Forster of London would only really have been available to professional London portraitists. The pair have been professionally and sympathetically restored and cleaned. The paintings are in the original superb quality gilt frames which have had some restoration but have been restored to preserve the untouched country house look with the original gilding. The works are of a large size and highly decorative particularly for those wanting to furnish in the English country house manner. C.1820.
