Description

This is a fine set of four engravings of toads by P. Heath after George Shaw which date from around 1800. George Shaw created a whole series of these for his publication 'General Zoology, Amphibia', London,1801. Mostly these were engraved by Percy Heath.

The four here are fascinating caricature type images of the horned toad (2), the carolina toad and the argus frog. The engravings are all in good condition and are very smartly presented in ivory mounts and narrow black frames.

The frames measure 37 cms by 30 cms.
