Three Superb Victorian Pencil Portraits

A wonderful quality set of three pencil and charcoal portrait drawings. The set show what is most likely to be a family of father, mother and son. The works are all by the same artist, though the son is slightly smaller than the others and might have been done at a slightly later date. The signature is sadly illegible but as can be seen by the quality of the portraits it is someone at the very highest levels of portraiture. The set are all mounted in the original mounts and oval frames. The frames are beautiful simple and elegant with ribbon mounts to the top and very Neoclassical in design and with the original soft gold gilding. The portraits and mount are untouched and as such do have some blemishes, non of which are too distracting. The frames all have had some restoration as the very nature of this type of frame is to be delicate, the restoration has been competently done, and is not readily visible. The set make the most dramatic impact and are highly decorative. C.1880.
