Fine Still Life Oil Painting of Fruit

A really stunning oil on canvas depicting a group of fruit on a stone shelf, a classic form of still life. The painting is visually bright and decorative and technically very accomplished, I particularly like the sliced lemon. The work is signed but the signature is sadly illegible. The painting has been professionally cleaned and had a little light restoration. The work is mounted in a period renaissance style gilt frame which has been regilt at some point. The whole has a great decorative appeal and a real country house look. C.1860.
