Large Oil Painting of Highland Landscape and Cattle

A large oil on canvas painting of highland cattle in mountainous lochside landscape. The painting shows a herd of various coloured highland cattle grazing on the mountainside. The quality of the work is good and particularly so on the cattle in the foreground. The painting is signed only with the monogram of 'DW' which I have been unable to identify, it is also dated 1909. The painting has been professionally cleaned. The work is still in the original gilt frame, which has had some restoration and the silvered slip, which is also original does have some cracks in the top corners. This is a large painting with a dramatic impact and a good example of it's genre and period.
