Late Victorian Still Life Oil Painting

A very interesting and unusual late Victorian oil on canvas painting of flowers. The artist seems to have painted in the corner of a greenhouse perhaps a group of white flowering plants with dark foliage. The effect is quite arresting and has a slight air of the Gothic about it. The quality of the work is very high yet sadly there are no signs of a signature. The painting has been professionally cleaned and tiny holes repaired. The painting is mounted in a period Victorian gilt frame which is quite dark and really helps the white flowers spring out of the painting. The whole is in excellent condition and ready to hang. c.1900
